Metis has been selected as one of 10 companies for the US Immersion Week of Founder University Japan, a pre-accelerator run by JETRO and Jason Calacanis's LAUNCH for Japan-focused startups.
The program
Founder University Japan has three stages. A four-day in-person bootcamp in Japan brings together 30 companies for lectures, workshops and networking with entrepreneurs and investors. A 12-week online pre-accelerator follows, with weekly live sessions and pod mentoring. The final stage, US Immersion Week, is open to 10 selected companies and includes a VC road show and visits to US startups.
Metis completed the Japan bootcamp as part of Cohort 2. US Immersion Week runs October 19–23 in San Francisco, and co-founder and CEO Hiro Ogasawara will be in the city from October 18 to 28.

Metis is the company brain for engineering design. We turn a company's design knowledge, both tacit and explicit, into structured knowledge, and deliver it to hardware design engineers just in time, inside and around CAD.
Our customer conversations span automotive OEMs and Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers in both Japan and the United States. Metis was founded at MIT, and our CEO spent about ten years in body design engineering at Toyota. A program built to connect Japan-focused founders with the US ecosystem matches how we work: we build for engineering teams on both sides of the Pacific.

プログラムについて
Founder University Japanは3つのステージで構成されています。まず30社が日本での4日間の対面ブートキャンプに参加し、講義、ワークショップ、起業家・投資家とのネットワーキングを行います。続く12週間のオンライン・プレアクセラレーターでは、毎週のライブセッションと少人数グループでのメンタリングが行われます。最終ステージのUS Immersion Weekには選抜された10社が参加し、米国VCへのロードショーや米国スタートアップの訪問を行います。
MetisはCohort 2として日本でのブートキャンプを修了しました。US Immersion Weekは10月19日から23日までサンフランシスコで開催され、共同創業者でCEOの小笠原 浩樹は10月18日から28日まで現地に滞在します。
Metisにとっての意義
Metisは、エンジニアリングデザインのための企業の頭脳です。企業に眠る設計の知見を、暗黙知・形式知を問わず構造知へと変換し、ハードウェア設計者が必要とするタイミングで、CADの中と周辺で届けます。
私たちは日米の自動車OEM、Tier 1、Tier 2サプライヤーと対話を重ねています。MetisはMIT発のスタートアップであり、CEOの小笠原はトヨタ自動車でボデー設計に約10年携わってきました。日本発の創業者と米国のエコシステムをつなぐこのプログラムは、太平洋の両側の設計チームに向けてプロダクトをつくる私たちの姿勢と重なります。
Metisは現在プレシードラウンドの資金調達を進めており、この1週間は米国の投資家や事業者と直接対話する機会となります。
